I was invited to Lillian’s 70th birthday and I said the same thing that day…her life reminds me of the life of a lotus blossom, a Buddhist symbol.
Lillian was raised in not so pleasant circumstances. She spent about half of her earthly years like a seed in the muck. Her life as a “seed” meant she was a survivor who still had hope and a chance at rebirth.
During the second half of her life, she was surrounded by friends and family who brought warmth to her life and nurtured her. She began to grow a stem, remembering her origins but also moving toward becoming something else.
Finally, she budded and bloomed above the surface as a lovely blossom… Lillian in her purist form.
She was a teacher, a mother, a
grandmother, someone in love, a listening ear, a brilliant mind, a powerful force, an advisor and a peacekeeper.
I will miss Lillian’s physical presence, but I’m so glad I got to witness her transformation here on this Earth.
She was a wonderful role model for me and my heart goes out to all who knew her.
